This workshop provides a step-by-step guide through the essential stages of screenwriting, helping you turn an initial idea into a complete script. The workshop is divided into six stages: Logline, Premise, Treatment, Character Profile, Scene Breakdown, and Script.

Session 1-2: Understanding the Logline

  • Character Arc: Types of character arcs and how they shape a story’s trajectory.
Session 3-4: Developing a Strong Premise

  • How to build a comprehensive premise for your screenplay.
  • The Dramatic Curve:
  • Understanding the dramatic curve and its key stations.
  • How to align the premise with the dramatic arc to maintain audience engagement
Session 5-6: Crafting a Treatment

  • The 15-Beat Structure: Overview of the 15 beats for a screenplay.
  • How to incorporate these beats into your treatment to create a solid foundation for your script.
Session 7-8: Creating Character Profiles

Lecture 9-10: Scene Breakdown

Session 11: Navigating Film Festivals with Ahmed Shawky

n this interactive session, film critic Ahmed Shawky will guide students through the essentials of submitting their films to festivals, with peer feedback on their final project ideas. Key topics will include:

  1. Submission Essentials – Steps for applying to festivals, selecting the right events, and preparing a festival-ready press kit.
  2. Securing Funding – Exploring grants, sponsorships, and other funding options for independent filmmakers.
  3. Making Connections – Tips for networking, pitching to industry partners, and understanding what festival juries prioritize.
  4. Maximizing International Reach – Adapting submissions for global festivals and navigating cultural nuances.

This workshop is designed to guide both beginners and intermediate screenwriters through a structured approach to creating compelling screenplays. Each lecture builds upon the previous one, ensuring that participants develop a comprehensive understanding of the art and craft of screenwriting.

    • Payments are pre-paid, 50% on booking and the other 50% to be paid maximum one day before the first day of the workshop.
    • Bookings are ONLY confirmed by paying 50% of the total fees.

    • Before two weeks of the workshop starting date participants will get a full-refund.
    • During the last two weeks before the workshop starting date participants will get a 50% refund of the total price.
