IN THIS WORKSHOP
This workshop is designed to take actors on a journey of discovering their fundamental tools through intensive exercises. It helps them develop a strong presence, enhance their connection with their body and senses, and respond naturally and dynamically within scenes.
Actors will work on performing monologues and scenes to learn how to express their emotions and thoughts freely in dramatic moments
- Relaxation and Freedom in Acting:
– Exploring different relaxation techniques to help actors feel more comfortable while performing. - Sensitivity and Response:
– How actors become more sensitive to their emotions and surroundings in a scene and how to interact with them effectively. - Storytelling through Imagination and Intention:
– How an actor can convey a story using imagination, goals, and sequence. - Scene Work:
– Understanding how an actor begins working on scenes and character development through text analysis. - Authenticity in Performance:
– How actors can perform naturally to make the audience feel they are watching real people in realistic situations.
Section 1: Fundamentals
- Basic Principles:
– Exercises to develop observation skills, teamwork, responsiveness, and active listening.
– Training actors on spontaneity, interaction, and collaboration within scenes.
– Understanding how acting is based on exchanging actions and emotions with other actors.
– Exercises on receiving and delivering actions naturally to build a scene.
– Working collaboratively to create an improvised story.
– Exploring how accepting or rejecting offers from fellow actors influences scene progression.
– Basic improvisation rules and silent acting techniques. - Relaxation Techniques:
– Learning different relaxation methods to find the best personal approach.
– Managing tension, as it is the biggest enemy of actors.
– Essential relaxation exercises from practitioners like Erik Morris and Stella Adler. - Actor’s Tools:
– Understanding the body as a fundamental tool for acting.
– Developing physical awareness and control.
– How body language conveys subconscious emotions and thoughts.
– Exploring how physical choices shape external character traits.
– The relationship between voice and body as expressive tools.
– Reconnecting with the five senses to enhance emotional authenticity.
– Exercises to stimulate imagination and internal emotional worlds.
Section 2: Acting Practice
- Monologues & Scene Work:
– How to read and break down a script to understand its meaning.
– Key questions to analyze and interpret a monologue or scene.
– Essential elements that build dramatic moments.
– Practical rehearsals on monologues and scenes.
– How space and setting influence the dynamics of a scene.
– Exploring different ways of rehearsing and refining performance.
– Approaching a naturalistic acting style that makes the audience believe in the authenticity of the performance.
– Understanding core relationships within a scene or monologue and how they drive the narrative.
– Learning how to stop “acting” and focus on truthful performance.
